Coach Pete wants to help you find your unique leadership voice in your family business.
A common challenge in family businesses is for people to find their own unique leadership voice. It is common for successors in family business to try to emulate the leadership style of the person who has successfully led the business for so many years. What it is important to realize is that you are not the leader who came before you, nor should you try to be that person. What you need to do is find your own style and unique perspective on leadership.
In order to develop your leadership style, first ask yourself: “What are my natural gifts as a leader? What does it look when I use those gifts?” Secondly, ask yourself what are 2-3 new leadership practices you can deploy to utilize these gifts to their full potential. Finally, tell you inner circle the goals you plan to achieve and ask them to hold you accountable to get them accomplished.
Finding your unique leadership style is not an immediate action. It can take trial and error, and time to feel comfortable finding your footing as a leader. You will find the more you uncover your own personal style, the more comfortable you will be leading your business!
As always, don’t forget to lean on Coach Pete and play to your potential!
