It can be difficult and uncomfortable to deal with conflict in a family business. What we have to acknowledge is that conflict is natural, inherent, and inevitable in any business. All great companies know that a certain amount of conflict is actually healthy for the business as a whole.
Many companies avoid conflict, or in other cases handle conflict very poorly. As these patterns continue, the residual damage from not properly dealing with conflict can become exponential, and the results will not only be immediate, but span through generations and vastly affect a company’s overall performance.

Once we recognize how the individuals within a company deal with conflict, we can begin to identify new behaviors that may be more effective. Only then can we begin getting comfortable in utilizing these new behaviors to deal with existing and future conflicts.
