One of the top things families appreciate in family business coaching is objectivity. Too often families get trapped in old ways of looking at each other and their situation.
After 20 years of studying family business families, I’ve developed a simple, easy to use scorecard that helps families get an objective measurement of how they are doing.
Successful business owners know the importance of measuring their profitability, cash flow, and sales to know how they are doing. Those measurements happen regularly.
Trying to measure family effectiveness can be more arbitrary and full of opinions that lead to unproductive dialogue.
Our scorecard gives you a way to measure things like:
- Communication
- Role clarity
- Conflict
- Vision
- Values
- Succession
- Accountability
The scorecard is easy to use and helps families identify areas they may want to explore and improve upon as a team. Once the scores have been recorded, it also provides a nice benchmark to measure progress as a family.
Strong family leaders help the family get comfortable assessing their situation and discussing it in a mature and productive way. Business is a competitive endeavor and the sooner you train your team to embrace this process, the sooner they will reach their potential!
Please let me know if I can help in any way.
