Hi, it’s Family Business Coach Pete Walsh!
I hope you realize the best athletes in the world practice the fundamentals over and over again. Olympic athletes, professional baseball, football, soccer – you name it, they practice to be the best.
This month I want to challenge your team to take a few minutes and review the inventory of 50 skills I have identified as critically important to being a business professional.
In the next week, set aside 10 minutes and take my 50 skills assessment. Bring your filled out assessment to your next team meeting and be ready to share with your teammates and peers the following information:
- Your top five areas of strength – the skills that you feel are your best
- Your bottom five areas – the five skills that are your lowest that you would like to improve upon in the next few months
If you are going to be a great family business team, you are going to need to be honest with each other about your areas of strength and your areas for improvement.
Here’s a link to the 50 Skills Assessment.
The best athletes and performers embrace the idea of measuring and improving their skills. Take time in the next week to take the inventory and share it with your team members.
Play to your potential!
Coach Pete
